My background
Jack is the fourth generation born in Lakeland, Fl. His mother’s family (Riggins & Darracott) moved to Lakeland in the early 1870’s. After attending the University of Florida, Jack worked at Publix Super Markets for many years, beginning as a Computer Programmer, also Head of Marketing Research and then as the Head of Strategic Intelligence, with projects like the entry into the Atlanta Market, a corporate wide Quality Improvement process, and a comprehensive Customer Segmentation strategy. Jack was a third generation Publix employee, his grandfather was part owner of the All-American Grocery Stores, (which sold in 1940 to George Jenkins). Jack’s father, Mark C. Hollis, was the President of Publix from 1986 – 1995, and vice-chairman of the board from 1995 – 1999.
After retiring from Publix, Jack bought the Computer Renaissance company which was a franchise that operated computer stores across North America and Canada. Jack sold the franchise in 2008 and began consulting and strategic investing.
Jack is currently on the Board of the Boca Grande Water Association, the Friends of Boca Grande and is the Past Chairman of the GiveWell Community Foundation in Lakeland, Fl. Jack has been on the board of many charitable organizations: Lakeland Symphony, United Way, All Saints Academy, Bonnet Springs Park, etc.
Jack and his wife, MaryLee from Ft. Lauderdale, have four children and five grandchildren. They enjoy traveling, boating & sailing and trying to play golf and tennis . After vacationing in Boca Grande, he and MaryLee bought a house in 2017 and couldn’t wait to become full time residents of Boca Grande.

Currently I love living on Boca Grande Island. It is like the old Florida that I grew up with. A simple, slow way of life, with a group of people interested in life long learning and a little fishing thrown in the mix.
